The story of Johnny Appleseed I think was my favorite story in the book. Some of the stories were really good and others were very dry and some were just confusing in the way they were laid out.

I have heard or read most of them at one point or another in my life, though a couple of them were new to me. These are so awsome, we read them in class! This is a book that I am glad to have on my shelf! The language was very simple and easy to understand, there werent much hard vocabularies. What I did like about this book was that it made me question how these stories came about and my son also wondered if these people were real or not. American Tall Tales by Adrien Stoutenburg.

Some of the stories where great caught my children’s attention. Stories every American knows or should know. This book has many stories of many different tall tales. My wife ordered this as a read-aloud after seeing it on Ambleside Online, a Charlotte Mason-based homeschool curriculum. A few of them bogged down but this is a great introduction to American stories. The narration was excellent and most of the stories were fun too.
