I hated this book so much. Jamal’s chances of landing in Australia and finding his parents seem hopeless when the food runs out and pirates come aboard. The story makes you want read more and more. And then when the army truck pulls up on the field Jamal still thinks that a soccer game is going on. I chose this book because the book looks very interesting, and unbelievable how people can escape from extremism government, and after that stay alive, and live in a safe place from the extremist government.
That would never happen in a real life situation! I did like it a lot – when I was eight. I understand what the author is trying to do but I personally do not agree with it. I was a little disappointed in how this book was written.
It seemed like such a wonderful plot. They just appear at the airport, they just appear at the dock, an army ship just appears! Can Jamal and his family survive their incredible journey and get to Australia? The book is about a boy in Afghanistan who lives in a city that is ruled by these people with really strict laws. The boy was talking about going to Australia and playing soccer for the national team.

Their home is blown up and all they have left is what they I read this book in one go, just lgeitzman put it down. Harrison she says I will go get the ball that proves that she is so stubborn. One thing I learnt from the book is that not all people that act good are good.
An educational read for my children Told from the perspective of a young boy, this story gave my children a great insight into the plight of refugees and asylum seekers. We worried, laughed and cheered! Morris began bot writing career as a screenwriter, and wrote his first children’s novel in Jamal, his younger sister Bibi, and his parents have to flee Afghanistan when their small home based school for boys and girls is discovered.
