D The characters are all really well depicted as being different from each other with no characters actually feeling like hot copies of the other and all the characters regardless of rank, or how often they peer, seems to be lacking in three-dimensional characterisation which leads to some great interactions between them and really adds to the feel of the book especially when the characters are in conflict with each other but the come together in order to overcome the obstacles are often thrown in their way!

He got the idea almost immediately. The Elenium continues in the next volume, The Ruby Knight. They end up defending the city from two different attacking armies – then eddiings chase the villians edrings the continent where Sparhawk proceeds to kill a God not kidding. There were a few little niggles that part of me just can’t get past.
You also get to see a lots of the past history of the land and the characters which also adds to the overall palimpsest that is depicted throughout the book!

Eddings is not the best fantasy author alive but he is very good at what he does and that is writing appealing and entertaining fantasy books for reader of all ages.
Sparhawk and his companions will face monstrous foes and evil creatures on their journey, but even greater dangers lie in wait: It felt more like a couple weeks. As archetypical High Fantasy goes, this one’s a keeper. It’s always a little scary to read books that I loved when I was younger since my tastes now are so different. Recommended for Fantasy fans as well as anyone wanting a fun, cheerful read. All of the characters in this book seem to speak with the same voice, so it’s not always apparent which one is speaking.

Sparhawk is a really likeable character. The EleniumSparhawk Universe They are wonderfully easy to read and contain enough cynicism to keep them from spilling over into cheese.
The bad guys are far more interesting than in the Belgariad. The journey takes them all over the whole continent, battling str Book One: I enjoyed this book. Plot line is ok so far. The new single volume features all of eddiings same material found in the three separate novels including maps. Open Preview Dagid a Problem? I do have some qualms in this book.
Sparhawk is also an interesting character because the story begins when h I’ve always enjoyed David Edding’s works. If you have read the Belgariad series you will find the characters very familiar. If you are going to read Eddings stick to the Belgariad books. Especially dealing with the gods there were a lot of “thees” and “thous” and “doths” which doesn’t bother me being a fan of Shakespeare, but may put some people off.

What I love about David Eddings is that he creates such likable dacid, reading about Sparhawk, Kurik, Kalten and company is always very entertaining, the banter between them all is funny and seems to be one of his key tools in chracterization.
