Price has taken umbrage at the cavalier manner in which Rev. A former religious radio host raised in the cradle of Christianity, Seth Andrews battled his own doubts for many years. Thought provoking and captivating from start to finish. After reading these books, I feel as though the world needs to be reminded that when someone realizes she is an atheist, it is not an attack on everyone else in the world that believes in God. Andrews has gathered some of the gorier and more contradictory aspects of the Bible that are usually ignored or rationalized by believers provided they actually read their holy book, which is less common than you might expect.
The book is great for atheists looking to learn about the journey of others, as well as for believers who might not understand how one might go from belief to nonbelief. LOL If you’re looking for a detailed manual on how to debate with the religious, this isn’t your book. Achieving true lucidity often takes a lot of time and, in many cases, some real assistance from others until you have the deconveryed to stand on your own.
The audio book is on Audible. His categorization of Christian apologetic archetypes was familiar and insightful as well check out Bill Maher’s fine documentary ” Religulous ” for real-life examples in the wild. I read a lot and appreciated even more the ideals and sseth for living that Buddhism provides. This wasn’t decpnverted typical dry audiobook. Yes, there there are “liberal” Christians here, as well as a few Muslims, about 25 Jews, possibly a few Hindus, although I haven’t seen any, decpnverted agnostics, some atheists, but no place to really gather and not be in church, because the only alternative is the Unitarian CHURCH, and while it’s a catchall for all beliefs and while they tend to make fun of fundies, it’s still called a “church,” so that kind of defeats the purpose.
Seth Andrews really has a brilliant way of telling a story, everyone should give this book a listen. This could easily be my coming out of the closet, although I’m trying to keep this from showing up on my FB profile.
The sections about the history of radio and his industry were interesting. Born into a family of six children, he was raised by devoutly religious parents who lived and taught a literal Bible.

Learning to think for yourself is much more difficult if you have been brought up religious. Seth tells us his story of growing up a strong believer and how he started to question his religious beliefs.

Every religious charge would become an opportunity for me to vet their information, to verify their claims against legitimate science and history, and invariably, the claims of Christianity vaporized under the white-hot light of scrutiny.
But Seth has a voice like melted chocolate, so it’s enjoyable to hear again. Felicia J Colorado It also would deconvetred been a good choice to include perhaps another chapter on things he’s learned from being a non-believer, since a lot of this focuses on how he came to disbelief, and although that is the point and the journey is, of course, never over I felt as though it would have andrws more conclusive And a tip of the hat to fans to write some personal revelations that have come out of having, and sharing, a community.
His personality is overwhelmingly comforting and welcoming and to put his humor and relatability down in writing just wouldn’t do him justice.
