My edition of this book expozicion published by Evangelical Press is full of spelling mistakes and basic errors that any proof reader should have picked up – random quote marks all over the place, the word modern constantly appearing as modem for example. Under the first head, I must mention first a plethora of typographical errors.
The general content is precisely what the title promises. Nevertheless, this is a worthy read and a excellent resource for one’s library. Lists with This Confseion.
I found a lot to disagree with in chapter 25 Of Marriagewhere I felt the confrsion went beyond the Confession and rather offered an exposition of the Westminster Confession. I love it and that is exactly how I believe that God is, the Sovereign King over every molecule. Waldron, perhaps, spends a little too much energy in the final two chapters on eschatology which might have been spent elsewhere, but that is my only critique.
Though I did not study it very deeply. At other times, I just really liked the turn re phrase he used to express an idea I may have read previously in another book. My advice – don’t bother buying this. Waldron doesn’t skimp in his ef, the pamphlet format of the Confession becomes a thick book pages counting the notes and appendices that could easily serve as a small systematic theology.

This time I have taken the time to go through it with Sam Waldron which I though he did a very good job. The actual exposition was average, lacking finesse and erudition that I have found among commentators of the Westminster documents.
This has caused some strange opinions by Dr. But if every book in my library had as few faults as this one does, some of them would be in considerably better shape than they are now.
They fall into two heads – matters of production, and matters of content. I’m certain that these errors aren’t Dr. Chad rated it it was amazing Dec 26, Other than that it was a good and helpful commentary on the London Baptist Confession. Dr Waldron explained things very well, I especially liked his extensive treatment of chapters 29 Of Baptism31 of the state of man after death and of the resurrection of the dead and 32 Of the last judgment. Bobby Crenshaw rated it it was amazing Dec 28, Samuel Waldron goes through each chapter and paragraph and expounds biblically on the statements in the confession, with the occasional comment about historical context.

A good resource in Reformed Baptist history and theology. The chapter on the Trinity, a subject of utmost importance, one often misunderstood by the average church goer, and one of recent debate within evangelical circles, was probably the shortest chapter in the book and left me a bit disappointed.
This book is not yet featured on Listopia. This book is going to go into my library in a place where I can easily reach it, for I anticipate referring to it often for many years. I can only imagine how confused this chapter would leave someone who came to it not understanding the various views and hoping for clarification.
On the very next page he expresses his view which is very similar to what the Westminster view actually is of one covenant of grace with multiple administrations.
Waldron does a great commentary, bringing the contents truths to home even more clearly. Some of the chapters seemed excessively short or baautista over important ideas. Robert R Jess rated it it was amazing Dec 28,
