It’s just the most groundbreaking show for comedy that I can think of. That’s all SNL is is hype. There are great stories, however, that are worth reading. Feb 06, Jeffrey Bryson rated it liked it. Why should the reader root for him at all, fasping why would anyone on the show try to help him when he literally does nothing to help himself or show himself to be a team player worthy of spending effort on?
Due to his bad attitude, his needlessly gossipy stories none of which are particularly great, if you ask me – plus they’re listed on the back coverhis admission of stealing work and generally being a pain in the ass, I’m frankly surprised that he’s ever worked again. Jay offers an intimate first-person account of the inner workings of Saturday Night Live-the audition, the pitch meetings, and how skits make the final cut of the show.
But he’s unlikeable and egotistical, and the book isn’t funny or introspective.
But it covers basically the first decade of the show. That is a lot of talent.

He was going to make fun of this ridiculously pompous shmuck from Toronto. Or whatever the hell you do when you’re watching that show. Mohr treats readers to some affectionate, entertaining tales of the late Chris Farley, but his book is less a juicy inside story of the comedy institution than a tale of an immature young man’s struggle with a high-stress, erratic workplace: Dec 18, Neil rated it really liked it.
The late night mainstay, Saturday Night Live is one such institution. Mohr’s writing style is a perfect example–he jumps back and forth between stories, episodes, events with such repetition that it’s shocking there wasn’t a decent editor who told him to rewrite the book gaspinf in chronological order.
