Fred is gay and enjoys the view of the athletic guys as much or more than Kenney, but Aurin is surprised to find herself noticing newcomer Neila, female. Be the first to discover new talent! Aurin and Neila’s developing romance, which should be the central point of the novel, is graevl flat.

I’d like queej read this book on Kindle Don’t have a Kindle? All I learned was that girls kiss girls the same way that girls kiss guys. I actually think Benduhn treated this rather well, and managed to write a nice lesbian story while doing so that didn’t fall into some of the horrific plot snares that gape along the way.

A delightful, thoughtful novel. The author is my daughter and the book was out of print when I ordered a copy for a friend. This is not quite “Seventeenth Summer” but it does quueen similar elements of self-discovery and garvel sexuality. There is a carefully constructed balance between Aurin and her friends Gtavel and Fred. I had only one real confusion, concerning how “out” Aurin was in relation to Kenney, but that did not hinder my enjoyment of the book very much.
